The Way to Use Rubbing Compound on Spar Varnish

Spar varnish is frequently used because it’s flexible and water-resistant, decking. It takes hours to dry properly. It is likely that dust has settled on the varnish before it’s dry, causing it to feel rough if you’ve used it on furniture or woodworking. Issues with spar varnish comprise strokes or brush lines, which can be caused by employing layers of varnish. Rubbing compound works to eliminate brush patterns or the rough feel. Some people utilize orbital sanders for this intent, but that’s too competitive to be practical. Hand-rub the end into a satin glow.

Apply a dime-sized amount of rubbing compound to a foam pad.

Scrub on the varnish with power working with a circular pattern. Begin another pattern overlapping the pattern by 1 inch, when the area appears milky. Insert more compound.

Repeat until you’ve covered a area, rubbing against circular patterns. Permit the compound to dry for 3 minutes.

Off with a soft, dry cloth wipe the compound. Repeat Steps 3 and 1, 2 until the surface of the varnish has been rubbed to overlap the patterns by 1 inch.

Buff the surface of the varnish smooth with a soft fabric. If the varnish continues to feel demanding repeat the steps.
